On August 10, 2001 the Tejano Statue-Capitol, Inc. Board and advisory members selected the celebrated painter, sculptor and educator, Armando Hinojosa of Laredo, Texas to commemorate the contributions of the Tejano people to Texas in a memorial on the State Capitol Grounds.
Mr. Hinojosa's concept was selected from among proposals submitted by four accomplished Texas artists. Each artist created maquettes and 2 dimensional renderings to illustrate their concepts.
